Believe it or not, the New York Times reports that the Bush Administration's No Child Left Behind policy is failing to close the gap in achievement between black and white children. With Democrats in power now, I find it unlikely that they will produce better policy. I'll give 5-to-1 odds that any proposed solution will boil down to "throw more money into the education system," ignoring increase in funding from was $43.5 in FY2004 to $63 billion dollars in FY2005.
My solution? take a summer to cancel all funding to the Department of Education, stop taking taxes equal to 63 billion from us tax payers, and issue school choice programs for education.
